We visited the PeiNan Culture Park or formally named as the National Museum of Prehistory which is located at the real place where the Peinan tribe, one of Taiwan’s aborigines 3,000 years ago was. The museum keeps lots of ancient stuff. The museum itself imitates the side of the workers who discovered the Peinan’s cemetery. They said that they found 1,055 coffins in various sizes. Some coffins even consisted of a big family.

The museum also displayed the model of stone layers under the island (It’s called Pebble Layers.) The reason why it consists of layers is that because the land is being pressed by the pressure from the seas. Some parts of the museum showed the model of the Peinan villages and the cloths made of plant roots.

Close to the museum, there was a small hill with an observation platform and from there we could see the whole TaiDong city. It was beautiful.

We arrived at the tea plant when it was raining. They leaded us to visit the tea factory. There were lots of machines but no one was working because they couldn’t get the tea leaves as it was raining. The tea they served us was too bitter for me, but lots of people love it. They then took us to get the tea leaves. Our shoes were ruined by walking on the wet soil. I was really disappointed ‘cos I missed an opportunity to walk around the tea plant in the slope area which looked so romantic.

Leaving the tea factory, they took us to the souvenir shop. Most of the products there were made of tea leaves. The green tea cookies were famous, everybody fighted to get them. The crowed was like mad dogs grabbing the pack of green tea cookies.

We arrived at the Yawan hotel late afternoon. The plan to ride bicycle was canceled ‘cos it was raining. The hotel was extremely large and looked scary. Two of the girls from the same room, not in my group, had the same nightmare when they had a nap. Both of them asked the hotel to change the room and they were allowed. This scared us. We were scared even more when I found out that a room on our floor was locked from outside (there must be somthing happened inside).

Because of the early arrival, the hotel showed us how to make mochi. They only put cooked rice into the wooden mortar and pound it, then dip it with sugar before eating.

After dinner, they distributed a cake for each group and we sang happy birthday song for all the guys who were born in April. We had fun and played with the cake by painting it on others faces. XuanXuan was very upset ‘cos she already told us not to play with the cake.

This hotel also had a Hot Spring which was more beautiful than the one from the hotel we stayed on the day before. There was also water spa in the swimming pool. At the beginning I didn’t want to go to the pool ‘cos I was lazy to dry the swimming suit again, but I was told about the ghost. I had to change my mind because I was too scared to stay alone in the room. The pool wasn’t very deep. It was like for kids. The hot spring there wasn’t hot enough because there were lots of people there.

At the bed time, Nat found a trace that looked like coffee on the bed and the wall close to bed, but she was scared. She said it was blood, so she asked Pui to stay in her room. As there were only two beds for four people in a room, Pui had to sleep with me instead of Nat.
